What Ducktape Can't Fix, Poetry Can
For my 20 Time adventure, I have decided to write a collection of relatable poetry entitled "What Ducktape Can't Fix, Poetry Can" with the featured poem sharing the same name. I decided to write this collection because I am very passionate with writing. My type of writing style when it comes to writing poetry is that my writing is very emotionally driven and easily relatable. I wanted to do this as a way of support for everybody who is going through a rough time or needs a shoulder to lean on. I, personally, have been travelling down a very rough road for the past few years, and reading and writing poetry has helped me through it tremendously. I feel that, by doing this, I am giving back by offering the same support that poetry has given me.
I am also going to try get this book published. My deadline is sometime in January, and it's not that long away. I know that there is a big possibility that I will not make my deadline and that is okay. I know that, for my situation, the process of getting there is just as important, if not more, than the end result. If I do get this published, I am going to use the website SmashWords, which is a place where an author can publish a book for free as an e-book, and then determine the price of the book based on the competitive market and the author's preference. I am not sure how exactly I would get the profit from the book sales, but I would like all profits to eventually get donated to the Hershey Children's Medical Center because they have helped my family a lot. My sister was born with Polycystic Kidney Disease and Hershey Medical Center was very sweet towards her because of how young she was at the time, and they took great care of her. I feel that, by publishing this book, I am giving back to the doctors and everyone who helped us out when we needed them.
My journey so far has been a rocky one, and I have ran into so many issues. My original editor is no longer able to work with me due to an accident she encountered, so I am in the process of currently playing phone tag with someone who might be able to edit my work for free, but we never seem to be able to talk to each other when we call and leave voicemails. I am also contacting a very nice lady who may be able to assist me in creating a cover for my poetry collection, which was an asset of this project I never even thought of. Yes, my 20 Time journey is turning out to be a lot of work, but I have a feeling that it will be totally worth it in the end.
